Finance Officer Position


The Municipality of Swan Valley West is currently seeking a skilled, experienced

Finance Officer to join our organization.


Under the direction of and reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our financial transactions and procedures.


Job Brief

The ideal candidate should be familiar with audits, invoices, budget preparations, managing accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, maintaining and analyzing the capital asset records in accordance with the Public Sector Accounting Board’s Standards for Tangible Capital Assets, maintaining files and records for same, tax roll and associated duties as well as payroll. You should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks.



  • Proven work experience, 2+ years, as a Finance Officer or similar role
  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using financial software
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data


Preference Given To Those With

  • Working knowledge of Munisoft Municipal software
  • Business Accounting Certificate, (CPA is considered an asset)
  • CMMA from University of Manitoba or willing to enroll in the program


Salary in accordance with current municipal Union Contract and dependent upon qualifications and experience.

 November 2018: Thursday November 29th at 7:00 p.m. will be the next Regular Meeting of Council.


December 2018: Thursday December 6th at 7:00 p.m. with be the next Regular Meeting of Council. There will only be the one meeting in December.

Blue Box Recycling is picked up every 2nd Wednesday within the LUD of Benito.

Dust Control 2018


The Municipality of Swan Valley West is offering Custom Dust Control to its residents at a rate of 86¢ per linear foot ($430.00 for 500 feet)

  • A minimum purchase of 250 feet is required
  • Site must be measured and marked with a minimum 2 foot high marker on the edge of the road.
  • Payment must be made in advance and received no later than May 15th, 2018.
  • Late or unpaid orders will be subject to a 10% surcharge.

Orders and payments to be made at the Municipal Office during regular office hours.
