FINANCE OFFICER POSITION

The Municipality of Swan Valley West is currently seeking a skilled, experienced
Finance Officer to join our organization. Under the direction of and reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our financial transactions and procedures.

Job Brief

The ideal candidate should be familiar with audits, invoices, budget preparations, managing accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, maintaining and analyzing the capital asset records in accordance with the Public Sector Accounting Board’s Standards for Tangible Capital Assets, maintaining files and records for same, tax roll and associated duties as well as payroll. You should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks.

Requirements
– Proven work experience, 2+ years, as a Finance Officer or similar role
– Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– Experience using financial software
– Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word
– Excellent analytical and numerical skills
– Strong time management skills
– Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
– Able to work in a team and alone

Preference Given To Those With
– Working knowledge of Munisoft Municipal software
– Business Accounting Certificate, (CPA is considered an asset)
– CMMA from University of Manitoba or willing to enroll in the program

Salary is in accordance with current municipal Union Contract and dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Job Brief
The ideal candidate should be experienced in customer service in person and via phone. Maintaining
confidentiality, filing and computer skills are a big part of the job. You should also have excellent
organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks.

Requirements
– Experience in Customer Service (in person, phone)
– Experienced in working with MS Office
– Able to work in a team and alone

Preference given to those with
– Working knowledge of Municipal software and Utility billing
– Experience in Municipal Administration or other administrative office positions
– Book keeping/ accounting experience

PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER/FOREMAN

The Municipality of Swan Valley West invites applications for the position of Public Works Manager/Foreman.

This non-union position will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.

Specific Responsibilities include but not limited to:
– Development of tender documents for contracted out projects and Grant Applications.
– Supervise contractors in the performance of work contracts and ensure that proper Construction Specifications are adhered to.
– Maintain an inventory of roadwork materials.
– Maintain detailed records and files on maintenance activities and costs.
– Maintain detailed records and files on capital activities and costs.
– Respond to emergency situations as required.
– Provide information required for billing custom work or sale of goods or services.
– Preparation of work orders, plans, and specifications for specific public works projects.
– Design and prepare budgetary estimates for “in-house” drainage works & road reconstruction in accordance with the Standard Construction Specifications.
